LG GM750 The New SmartyPants on the Block
LG’s new GM750 marries the latest touch phone smarts with Windows Mobile 6.5 – and it is a happy union…by Fiona Hanlon
Just checked out the new LG GM750 all cosied up with Windows Mobile 6.5.
The LG GM750 is quite the smarty-pant’s smartphone, it’s a super slick touch-screen handset that has the auspicious claim of being New Zealand’s first mobile to sport the new Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system.
The GM750 also represents LG’s first foray into the fully-featured business phone market.
The crux of this phone is that it enables you to use your preferred style of communication be it voice, email, texting, instant messaging or picture messaging to enable work or just stay connected with friends and family in a familiar Microsoft environment.

The home screen, which is fully customisable, displays all the critical information at a glance and at the touch of the Microsoft Start flag the ubiquitous icons of Microsoft appear, and technology in its familiar form is presented.
Boasting a 3” screen, the new LG S-Class interface and superior connectivity, the LG GM750 is easy to operate and allows for faster internet access.
Microsoft Mobile 6.5 brings with it a raft of new functionality including MyPhone which is a wireless backup and data share service for all your documents providing peace of mind and access to these from anywhere online. Windows Marketplace app store provides additional applications to support all your work, music and fun. And staying connected to the people you care about using social networking applications is also handled with ease.
Other features of this phone include the 5.0 Megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, Pocket Office and a music player, so one wants for nothing.
There is some white noise in the ether that suggests that navigation could be improved for emailing, my own personal opinion is one additional tap of the finger isn’t going to kill you....however, and this is a universal issue for me, the qwerty touch key pad does requires agile fingers, long nails or the stylis and I can’t see how this is going to change if we insist on editing documents on our mobile! The other small bug-bear is that the camera comes without a flash so night shots are limited.
Bottom line is it looks and feels smart, the enhanced benefits of the Windows Mobile 6.5 makes work to play relatively seamless and if you are one of life’s busy little beavers that blurs the lines between office and home then this magical little device is going serve you well. Good value at $699 from Vodafone stores nationwide.
